One of only three faithful geysers on Earth
Come spend a morning or an afternoon. Across ten acres you’ll find an erupting geyser, native gardens, a heritage animal farm, a geology museum and wide picnic lawns — a calm, all-day escape at the top of Napa Valley. The geyser is the headline; the day is the story.
The science
A living rhythm — and a quiet warning
Every twenty to forty minutes — sometimes more often — the geyser sends a column of steam and scalding water skyward. Its rhythm is alive: rain refills the underground reservoir and the eruptions quicken; through dry months they slow.
That same sensitivity once made headlines. Steward Olga Kolbek noticed the geyser’s timing shift before earthquakes — and a sixteen-year U.S. Geological Survey study agreed, finding the geyser flagged three major Northern California quakes days in advance, including Loma Prieta in 1989.
